Is a Living Social Coupon for an Activity as a Gift Considered Cheesy?

Yes. For my girlfriend. Today’s her birthday.  I DID get her tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Those I paid full value.

And as a supplement, I saw an email from the discount item/activity site, Living Social. The email was for an Escape Room adventure: locked in a room for an hour with various clues to find other clues to eventually get out of the room.  The discount was $15.

A month ago we’d discussed doing an escape room “someday” but when the email came across my inbox recently I figured I had to pick that up.

But as part of a birthday gift is it cheesy.

  1. I don’t think so. The fun of the event and the time spent with you should be more important than how much it costs and whether you used a coupon or not. She should realize that. And personally, I’m a big fan of coupons.
