Christmukkah Part 1: 2 Miracles and 1 Mistake

Ok so last Friday Mona and I had our big Christmukkah date, which really was a regular date + gifts.

So on the way there I was stressed. About money. My company has no work for me in all of December so this month’s bills are going to hurt my savings. Plus my credit card bill is growing.

I haven’t quite told Mona about this,  she knows that I freelance and had a bad December so no work means no money, but I haven’t exactly said that I need help paying for stuff. So I wasn’t looking forward to paying for dinner.

So after I picked her up we parked in a parking lot in town, was about to go to one restaurant when she saw another place and said that she had an expired Groupon for that place.  She had originally bought a $60 value for $30 and since it’s expired the place wouldn’t honor the $60 value but would still honor the $30 value (dinner was bound to be more than $30 but still s nice discount.)

CHRISTMUKKAH MIRACLE #1. Thanks for the help with the bill, God.

We ate. Two drinks,  two entrees.  Nothing outrageous. The bill comes.  $58. Then the manager looks at the Groupon and HONORS THE $60 VALUE.

CHRISTMUKKAH MIRACLE #2!!!

Sweet. I just put money for the tip! $12! OH YEAH.

We get back to the car and THERE’S A FUCKING PARKING TICKET ON MY FUCKING WINDSHIELD!!!!!!!

$35!!!!!

We had parked in one spot in the lot,  saw signs saying that we couldn’t park there, then parked somewhere else and went to the restaurant.

BUT NEVER CHECKED SIGNS AGAIN!

MOTHER!!!
FUCKER!!!

In the grand scheme of things,  if we never parked there we would have dined somewhere else and I would have paid full price.  So I still saved some money.  At least $20-30.

Overall, I’m appreciating the good karma.

  1. I hear ya about the money thing. I have been living check to check going through my divorce. Now that the divorce is final, I should get back on my feet financially. My business is slow in December as well. Hang in there and here’s to a better 2016!
