So the other day, my cousin who has his own IT recruiting company, asked my opinion on how to explain to a job candidate that they have more experience/would demand a higher paycheck than the position-they’re-applying-to calls for. Which words best describe that, he inquired, putting “senior,” “seasoned” or “advanced” on the table.
All make sense, though I don’t like “seasoned.” I lean towards “senior.” He thought it was be an age insult but as I see it, in the professional world it means exactly the point he’s trying to make.
The very next day, I followed up with a recruiter about her submission of my resume for a position. She said I was “overqualified.”
Overqualified… senior… same thing.
