So in Great get togethers end with requests for more I mentioned that I told a friend that I wanted to increase the frequency of seeing each other and he invited me over for dinner. That was last night, hanging with his kids (his wife is a teacher a had PTA meetings.)

Man, I’d forgotten the great friendship we have.

Firstly, his kids,  son 4 and daughter 2, like me a lot. I have good uncling skills. And as we managed them, “Pete” and I had beers, dinner and countless laughs. Not only talking about old times, but the things that are going on currently in our lives- his fixing up his house, my job search, etc.

Again, I know him from the old neighborhood so we speak the same language anyway.

After the Mrs came home, we smoked cigars in his yard and he played songs from Spotify from a list he made. Great songs. The combination sounded familiar. He said this list was called “Nostalgia” after a mix tape of the same name that I made back in the mid-90s.

Back then I was famous for making good mixes of rock/rockish pops songs that were great to smoke weed to. So like Zepplin’s Stairway to Heaven, AC DC’s You Shook Me All Night Long Duran Duran’s Come Undone, Bon Jovi’s Runaway, Elton John’s Empty Garden and of course The Eagles’ Hotel California, among many many others.

We don’t smoke weed anymore,  but cigars are (almost) just as good.

All in all, a very good night. Nice to re-bond with a good friend. And it’s weird to think that years before we officially met, he and a friend threatened to fight me because I was trying to date a woman that Pete was, unbeknownst to me, already dating.

But that’s a story for another time.
